Self Portraits and Portraits part 1

1. Alter Your Perspective

Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factorGet up high and shoot down on your subject or get as close to the ground as you can and shoot up. Either way you’ll be seeing your subject from an angle that is bound to create interest.

6. Shoot Candidly

Sometimes posed shots can look somewhat…. posed. Some people don’t look good in a posed environment and so switching to a candid type approach can work.
Photograph your subject at work, with family or doing something that they love. This will put them more at ease and you can end up getting some special shots with them reacting naturally to the situation that they are in. You might even want to grab a longer zoom lens to take you out of their immediate zone and get really paparazzi with them.
I find that this can particularly work when photographing children.
Engaging Your Subject
The first order of business is to engage your subject. This is where we all have to learn to overcome our shyness and approach people in an open and friendly manner. Be up front about who you are and what you're doing. Don't just barge into a scene with your cameras blazing. In fact, it is usually best to leave your camera in its bag when you first approach people, so as not to frighten them. Take time to engage the person in conversation, just as you would if you didn't have a camera. Remember the Golden Rule. Think about how you'd feel if someone approached you and wanted to make a photograph. How they did it would determine how you would respond.

Environmental portraits

I liked these pictures because one I'm a cheerleader myself and I like the character of the pictures and for the second photo i like it because I think it looks cool and dramatic. I picked the first photo because I do cheer and I could relate to it. I picked the second one because I think it looks cool and dramatic.

Photography self Portrait

In the first photo I like how the confetti is coming out of her head when she is "shooting" herself I thought that was very creative. I like the second picture because I like the lighting and how its black and white it looks creepy and dramatic. I chose these pictures because I thought they were creative and dramatic.

Casual Portrait

I like these photos because of how they're not looking at the camera it makes it very dramatic and think about what there looking at. I picked these for the reason i liked them.

My plan for my portrait shoot is not very well planed yet. I don't know who I will be shooting yet, but I would want to shoot outside. I would shoot outside for the natural lighting and the environment. I would probably add props or shoot from a different angle to get a successful shoot.

Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO

1. The eyes.
2. The smaller the Aperture the larger the f-stop\f-number, the higher the Aperture the smaller the f-stop\f-number.
3. Aperture impacts depth and field because it affects the background or sharp the picture is.

Shutter Speed

low shutter

High shutter

1. During the day I would shoot in high shutter speed because there  a lot of light and movement. At night i would use low shutter speed because there not as much movement and light.
a.) Low shutter
b.) low  shutter
c.) high shutter
d.) high shutter
e.) high shutter
f.) high shutter

2. To set shutter speed on your camera there are two ways. There is shutter priority and Manuel.

ISO
iso 200

iso 3200 or 6400

1. An advantage is that it catches all the action and even at night.
2. The author suggest to always stick to the low.
3. The author suggest to increase high when there is not enough light.

1.Aperture 8
2. shutter speed 1/60
3.190: 1600

Love and Loss Questions

I felt very sorry, and sad because those are very emotional pictures and no one should have to go through that. I believe she was 43 when died and I just thought that she still had a full life ahead of her. It was also really sad to see her with parents.

I think the photographer meant that the pictures aren't of their whole life but that it was a major part of it.

I think at first I wouldn't be able to because it would mean that the person is going away and I wouldn't want to remember them like that ( in pain and sick). But I think if it was all I had I would take photos.

I would say that I'm sorry for his loss and it must have taken a lot out of you to take the pictures of her last moments in life but that he spent her last moments well with her even if it wasn't probably how he imagined her to go.

Abandoned Theme Parks

I would like to go to Okpo Land, South Korea because I like how it looks so creepy and haunted it makes it look interesting. I would want to take pictures there because it would be like walking into a scary movie because people say that the place is haunted. I also like how the rides look now they very unique in way.

Five unusual places that would be cool to take pictures of:
1.  Twin town
2. Magnetic Hill
3.Village without doors
4.Land of Snakes
5.Living roots bridge

Twin town would be very interesting to document because the are 350 twin in that village and I think thats very cool and interesting. It would be fun to take pictures of all the different twins. You will probably be taking a lot of portraits though.

Africa

I was very impressed with the photographers photos I can see why he is obsessed with the animals. I also liked how he took the pictures up close which makes the animal look very powerful and dramatic. He took the pictures very beautifully.

This is one of my favorite pictures by Nick Brandt because elephants are my favorite animal cause they're good luck also I like how he captures the all the elephants in a line.
In this picture the rule of thirds is present because most of  the elephants are on the right side of the picture.

For Nick Brandt to take his amazing photos he uses a  Pentax 6711 with only two fixed lenses this is important because Nick likes to get real close and dramatic pictures. Nick takes these pictures to show what people are doing to the animals and their habitats. I think while Nick is taking these photos he's hoping that people will realize what they're doing and stop and do something about it.

"Simply, I find myself indescribably moved every time I go to these places and see these animals in these settings."

Funny Captions

Barbra just turned 100 today and this is what she says to that " I simply don't  care anymore" and lights a cigarette with her candles. I guess 100 is the new 50.

Mary hates to go grocery shopping and she hates everyone...obviously.

Sally is trying out today to be a Disney princess and she simply does not care what people say because they are all peasants to her. I wonder which princess she is.

Great Black and White Photographers Part 3

My great black and white photographer caught my I was that they took pictures of everyday things and people doing normal things and made them so much more. My photographers pictures are very dramatic to me I think photos that are black and white look very unique like they have a story to tell.

In the Street Drawing I see two kids drawing with chalk, I smell the polluted air and the chalk, I hear the busy cars and people talking, I taste the chalk in the air, I feel how the kids are enjoy drawing.
In the Second picture I see two kids with masks on and one is climbing a tree, I smell the city air, I hear the wind and the kids talking, I taste the earth/tree, I feel kind of scared because of the kids in the masks and there is no one else outside it feels a little bit forbidden.

To get everybody to see my photographers amazing work I would hang posters with her pictures on it and hang it around the school so everyone could see it.

Photo Mural Project

1. A good theme for this project that we could take the pictures here at school we be the electives and sports.

2.I think we should use both phones and cameras because there are things the phones could capture and there are things that cameras can capture that phones can't.

3. I would put the mural where everyone can see it like the cafeteria or the lockers.

Academic Shoot Reflection and Critique

1. A challenge I had while taking the pictures without distracting the class.

2. I was trying to capture all the rules in the picture I was taking. I was really thinking about what class would capture the photo rules best.

3.If I could shoot these pictures again I would get a little closer because most of these picture were taken far away.

4.In my black and white pictures I would keep those the same and how I took them.

5.When I take prompt pictures next time I think the rule of thirds will be the easiest to accomplish.

6.The hardest rule for me to capture was framing because it was hard to find something that could frame something.

7.I don't entirely get balance.

http://ashleyzoesphotojournalismblog.blogspot.com/2014/10/academic-shoot.html#comment-form

I like how Ashely's look I think she completed the photography rules well. My favorite photo of hers is her balance photo its different to me.

Theres not much to improve on in Ashely's pictures to me she could maybe work on her lighting in some pictures and her merger picture is kind of confusing I can't tell what is merging.

Academic Shoot and Reflection

Lines

This photo is not the best example of lines to me I think I followed the rule a little by getting the two rows as a line and the floor tiles. The focus in this photo is the students in their desks that are in rows. If people were looking at this they might be a littles confused on what its. I could have taken this photo better by getting a sharper line.

Balance

I think I completed this rule well it isn't my best work but its something. The focus in this photo is the three girls working they're a kind of triangle shape and they balance each other out. I think people would know this is balance because of how they make a triangle shape. I could shot this photo a little bit closer to get just the three girls.

Rule of Thirds

I think I did this rule very well and it is one of my favorite pictures I've taken. The focus on this photo is the boy working on the computer. People will be able to tell that this rule of thirds because of how you can tell that pictures if focusing on the boy.

Framing

This is a good picture of framing because the door is framing the students. The focus is the two students walking and the frame is the door window. People will be able to tell this is framing because of how the door is "picture framing" the students. I could have taken this better by backing up and focusing more on the students but also frame them.

Simplicity

This picture is an okay picture of simplicity. The focus is obviously the poster and what is saying.People will be able to tell if its simplicity cause of how its mainly focusing on the section of the poster. I could have maybe backed a little and sharpen the picture a little bit better.
